About Event Saturday February 18, 2017
Calling all runners to join the fun and engage in a non-traditional fun run, the “Run of Pi”. Instead of your typical 5k road race (3.10 miles),we are extending the course 4 hundredths of a mile (i.e. 3.14 miles) to debut the “Run of Pi”. The race course will be held on the main campus of the University of Houston. The “Run of Pi” is a fundraising event to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic (STEM) programs in the Houston area. The elementary, middle, and high school teams that represent with the most number of registered participants will be awarded a grant to support an existing STEM program at their respective school. C’mon, join the fun….what an excellent opportunity and motivation to stick with your 2017 New Year’s resolution. Come join us February 18, 2017 to help fund some of the brightest young minds in the greater Houston area.
The mission of the 2017 Engineers Week “Run of Pi” is to give back to the community by promoting a healthy and engaging activity. Profits raised as part of the fun run will be divided and awarded as grants to existing Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) programs to the top elementary, middle, and high schools who have the most registered participants in the fun run.
